Over in the Jungle, a rainforest counting rhyme

This week, the children have been writing a rainforest counting rhyme, based on the book, Over in the Jungle by Marianne Berkes which is also available as a beautiful interactive app.  First we had to find words which rhyme with the numbers one to ten and also to find powerful verbs which would either rhyme or be alliterative.  The children all agreed that line 2 of the poem was the hardest to write.  Why do you think that might be?  Here is their work. (Top tip: clicking on the pictures will make them easier to read!)

Dasha, Sasha L, David, Solaeman, German and Masha worked as a group to write the rhyme for the number one.
